Council Member Sherri Barbarin Downing
Council Member Downing is a District of Columbia native with a family that hails from New Orleans, Louisiana. After beginning her career in Information Technology Cisco Network Engineer, she was able to purchase a home in Fairmount Heights. A resident for over 25 years, she has found a love for her city and as a lay person has worked tirelessly to ensure that the residents of Fairmount Height enjoy the benefits that surrounding cities enjoy. While working full time with Citibank, she often sent out her signature e-mail blasts to her neighbors, letting them know about BGE Credits, Tax Credits, and Historical Register information. Mrs. Downing was previously elected to the Town Council in May, 2015. Her community activism is how she met her husband, Kevin Downing. They often work side by side on various community projects and since their nuptials, have decided to stay and continue to invest in Fairmount Heights. Mrs. Downing is the mother of one son, Shohn Barbarin and a grandmother to Zahyden.
