THE FAIRMOUNT HEIGHTS COMMUNITY GARDEN
LOCATED AT 719 60TH PLACE
THE HISTORIC SITE OF THE ORIGINALTOWN MUNICIPAL CENTER/TOWN HALL
The Fairmount Heights Community Garden was launched in the Spring of May 2018 by the Fairmount Heights Green Team. The team is an action team created as part of Sustainable Maryland Certified. The garden’s current location is at 719 60th Place. The site is a vacant lot owned by the Town. This project is in partnership and funded by the Satcher Health Leadership Institute, Morehouse, Atlanta, Georgia through the Healthy Community Initiative Project. We built 10 raised gardens and planted tomatoes, peppers, greens, watermelons, cabbage and many other vegetables. Town citizens are invited to participate and will have an opportunity to grow vegetables in an organic setting. A limited number of plots will be available for a minimal fee, if you are interested in having your own small garden. We encourage high school students, the local 4-H, and other youth groups to become a part of what is a growing trend in urban settings-Urban Farming
