Proposed Vacant Lot Registration Ordinance-Public Hearing

A vacant lot is a platted or un-platted parcel of land, without a habitable or commercial structure which has an assessed value for taxation purposes as determined by the State of Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.  Owner or purchasers of each vacant lot must register with the Town of Fairmount Heights, Code Enforcement no later than 30 days after acquiring a vacant lot. The registration must be submitted on a form from the Code Enforcement Office of the Town of Fairmount Heights.  The form should include a description of the lot by street address, property tax identification number and any other information in order to accurately identify the vacant lot, the property owner, the owners address and telephone number.  The ordinance shall be adopted in accordance with the Charter of the Town of Fairmount Heights.  Therefore, the first reading was held on Wednesday July 17, 2019.  Please be advised that the Mayor and Council will be on recess during the month of August.  The second reading will be on Wednesday September 18, 2019 at 7:30 P.M. and the third and final reading will on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at 7:30 P.M.  A copy of the draft ordinance is posted on this website and can be downloaded.
