Chief Watkins brings to Fairmount Heights close to 44 years of law enforcement experience, having served for nearly 25 years with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. and another 19 years with several other local and federal departments. Chief Watkins is the former chief of the Cottage City Police Department and the assistant chief of the D.C. Protective Services Police Department.
The chief is a lifelong resident of the area and attended schools, including college in Prince George’s County. He and his wife raised their children in the county and now have 11 grandchildren.
